Microsoft Fabric

OneLake is the unified data lake for Microsoft Fabric. It provides a common storage foundation across Fabric workloads. Shortcuts can reference supported data without creating another independent copy of it.

A lakehouse combines files and tables for analytics. It is suited to workflows that use Spark alongside SQL access to supported tables. Delta tables provide a structured way to manage data stored in the lake.

A warehouse provides a SQL-focused analytics experience. Use tables and SQL queries to prepare structured data for reporting. Choose between a warehouse and lakehouse according to the team's tools and transformation requirements.

Dataflows Gen2 use the familiar Power Query experience to ingest and transform data. Configure a destination for the prepared output and check refresh results. They can be used as part of a wider Fabric data preparation workflow.

Pipelines orchestrate data activities such as copying data and running transformations. Set dependencies so activities run in the required order. Monitor execution results and define how failures should be handled.

Semantic models provide relationships, measures and business definitions for reports. They create a consistent reporting layer over prepared data. Choose an appropriate storage mode, define a clear model and validate measures before sharing reports.
